You can press Win + L key or make the desktop - quicklaunch shortcut below.

1. right click your desk top and select NEW then SHORTCUT

2. paste in this to the prompt..... %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

3. Name shortcut Lockdown or whatever

4. When finished you will have a non-descript icon.... if you right click it and go to properties ... then browse (paste this) %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll you will find some more pictures for your icon.

5. Drag the shortcut icon to your "quick launch" tool bar.

6, The next time you need to lock your PC you need only one click.

Yes, that only works, if you use Windows login password.

Thanks for that - very useful for my home PC (not so much for work as they use XP :-)

You can also put you computer in Hibernate mode by folloing the same mthod but enter the following;

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
