Starting Recuva in debug mode produces a very useful error log that helps us find and fix bugs. It also tells us important things about your computer. To start Recuva in debug mode, do this:

1 - If you installed Recuva in the default location,
  • Press and hold the Start button and press R (opens the Run window)
  • Cut an paste this
"C:\Program Files\Recuva\recuva.exe" /debug
  • Press enter

2 - If you installed Recuva in a custom location,
  • The same as (1), but substitute C:\Program Files\Recuva for the custom path

You should now see [debug] in the top banner of Recuva.

The error log will be created as soon as you start Recuva and will be in the same folder as the exe (so almost certainly C:\Program Files\Recuva). The file will be called Error_log[date].txt. You can either email the whole file, or double click it to open it and cut and paste the contents directly in the forum.
