CCleaner is a great product, I've used it for years. Still, I have a question. When using it under WinXP, after running the "Cleaner" (with all "clean" settings checkmarked) and upon reboot, most of the URL icons on my desktop have changed to a "default look" and lose their original "special look." For example, a Yahoo! URL icon changes from a red "Y!" to a Windows default. This is great for maximum security, and they still link to their pages on the Net. However, if I should want to keep the original icon's appearance, how do I adjust the settings (check boxes) to do this? Thanks!

The icons are normally stored in Temporary Internet Files which CCleaner empties.

Move the desired icons to another folder, e.g., a subfolder under My Pictures.

Then right click the desktop shortcut, Properties > Web Document > Change Icon > Browse to the aforesaid folder, select the desired .ico file.

I don't remember the name of the program however there was one mentioned on these very forums that's freeware which can save the favicons to another directory as detailed by Glenn, or you can do it the slow old way of manually copying them out of Temporary Internet Files and of course deal with the "security warnings" Internet Explorer will display.

You can use this Google search for save favicon to find better instructions or a program that can do it.
