Up until today I've been able to use Manual update.

Any one els having this problem?

Yes, I get an error message also.

I downloaded and ran the .exe.

Yup, the same error.

It's happened before..don't know what causes it, but they eventually fix it.

Is this a usual event with AVG?

its common in AVG anti-spyware but it happens rarely.

The free versions of both AVG Antivirus ( Free ) and AVG Anti-Spyware get their updates from servers that do not have as much bandwidth as their Pro ( paid ) versions have... so they basically can get overloaded easier... Usually you can just wait a little while later and get updates without a problem.

Thanks for the info rdsok , It never occurred to me that it might be an issue regarding "Free or Paid" for versions.
