I have lost some of the keyboard function apparantly after using CCleaner.
I have a Dell laptop running XP. A few weeks ago I did a Windows update and recently I downloaded and ran CCleaner. I now notice that I can't open my CD drive with the "blue" function key F10. I also no longer see the bar graphs on screen when adjusting brightness or volume. I noticed that someone else has a thread with some similar issues (see "I want my computer back").
I have gone back and "merged" all the registry backup files that were created by CCleaner but that didn't fix things. I've done another windows update which included some driver updates. And I've run a Dell utility (Reset Driver Tool) that scans for malfunctioning drivers and it says no problems.
(I actually can't prove that it was CCleaner...maybe it was a windows update(?). But someone else on the forum seems to have similar problems).
Anybody know how to fix this problem? Did CCleaner delete something it shouldn't have?

Yup. It seems to be only with keyboard shortcuts like Fn and F10 to eject disk. But I know that the Function key works. Here is a little more detail...

When I press Function(Fn) F10 the CD drive should open but it doesn't. (yes, CD drive does open with the hard button on the side).
When I press Function (Fn) brightness up/down the screen brightness does change but I no longer get the bar graph on the screen indicating level of brightness.
When I press Function (Fn) volume up/down the volume does change but I no longer get the bar graph on the screen indicating level of volume.
When I press Function (Fn) wireless on/off the wireless does turn on and off but I no longer get the temporary indicator on the screen indicating it is either on or off.

Basically, it appears that the program(?) that sends the function commands into the system has a problem. (the commands aren't doing everything they should).

I know this might sound trivial to some people but it is something that has changed and is kinda annoying now that it stopped working.
