Just thought I'd mention that for anyone thinking of updating drivers just because there's an update available, and not because it's actually needed.
Completely agree with that, I learned a while ago to stick to drivers that work for the most part. Tried updating my graphics drivers on my laptop a couple of months ago and found it wouldn't set the amount of RAM to use for graphics to the maximum 256MB, it just refused to accept it. Went back to the old drivers and it worked fine again.
Have had issues with HP drivers too, it's well worth checking the various fixes hidden away on their site somewhere. There's a whole page of downloads on their site that fix various issues, I found a couple of fixes for things that I didn't even realise were the fault of the HP software
