Full Version: File Analysis makes Recuva slow
Piriform Forums > Piriform Software > Recuva Discussion

Since version 1.11, there is a second run executed when scanning a drive for files that analyses the files. I wonder what this second path is good for?
Recuva always had the advantage against comparable tools that it was very fast. This new feature makes it ten times slower. I interrupted the file analysis run and it seems to work as fine as with the analysis. I am sure there is some good reason for it, but I can not see nor find it anywhere? So why making it slow?

The Analysis stage of the scan vastly increases the accuracy of the status indication as well as filtering lots of unrecoverable files from the list. But yes, you can cancel this stage and use Recuva normally.
