Someone mentioned to me that "A-Squared free" is a great antispyware tool. please give your opinion on this tool?

Thank you for your time, as always, it's greatly appreciated!

I didn't like it as it seemed too resource hungry for me.

I didn't like it as it seemed too resource hungry for me.

That plus:
* Always has a running service, even though it doesn't have resident protection. That service can however be set to manual and it will only start when launching a-Squared Free.
* False positives. Although any anti-malware product is capable of a false positive a-Squared is more notoriously known for it.

I had previously used it for a few months (last year I think), but the false positives are what did it in for me.

I don't see why resource usage is an issue if all you are going to do is scan. It is not a program you will or can run real time. I do not have false positive issues with it.

My opinion: not that good. Many, many false posites.

I tried it and I didn't keep it long. I forget why. Prolly because it turned out to be another piece of sh*t wasting space on my pooter.

I tried it and I didn't keep it long. I forget why.

I had only used it before for one reason only: Because it had a right-click scan feature in Windows Explorer.

After someone posted about SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition also having right-click ability but only when it is launched/resident I really had no use for a-Squared anymore, that and its numerous false positives. SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition has never given me any false positives!

SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition has never given me anything. I've never seen it pick up anything Spybot or Adaware hasn't picked up. And I don't even use them anymore. Okay, once in a blue moon I'll say, "Forgive me Father, I have sinned. It's been 8 weeks since my last adware scan." The only reason I run them once every 2 months is for that "but what if" or "just to be on the safest side of the Universe" knee-jerk reaction from old habits.

You know what works good for me? Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM, free version). I run that about once every 2 weeks.

Thank you for the warning. I will make sure to not include it in my tool kit.

So does SAS, Malwarebytes, and Spybot S&D, as well as A-squared.

Many here complaining about false positives with A-squared. I'm not getting any.
