Hi all,

I experienced malware/java problems last summer so severe that I eventually resorted to burying my dell and buying a new machine. Had initial problems with the new one when previous files loaded, despite all indicators that they were clean. So bad that retailer gave me a whole new machine rather than try to detangle it.

So in the process of trying to slowly carefully bring this one up to speed, I have followed the pre-post guidance on this site, and will post my hjt log.
One major problem at this time is that now I have too much antimalware running. And with each one I've been directed to load, I'm told I must uninstall or dsiable the last. I've lost track! Is there a way to lock up so to speak some programs that I don't want to run all the time, but would like available for occasional checks?

The machine came with McAfee Security Center and is running windows Defender. I've loaded AVG, spybot s&d. HJT, CCleaner and Avir. I also bought Kaspersky at the time of machine purchase, but haven't been able to wade through the complexity to run it.
Needless to say, I'm so busy chasing down warnings etc... I don't get any work done!
tc... that I never get done what I et out to do.

If you could please advise on the best way to choose and configure protection so that I need only interface with it on a routine basis (is weekly to much to hope for??), I would be obliged.

Also, I have repeated (repeated) episodes (episodes) of duplicate (duplicate) files. (just a little humor). I can't figure out what I've done to configure this, or why every time I load a program/app it creates a shortcut without my permission.

There are also nearly 100 processes running (maybe from all the antimalware?) I'd appreciate help in paring down to the minimum.

Security wise, I am on a home network, but need to block theother computers as my husband's is woefully infected and he refuses to fix it. I beleive I've configured my firewall / network sharing properly. ANy insight, guidance or reassurance would help.
