We all know OJ was guilty in the first trial of murdering his wife but the truth is the verdict was the right one. He wasn't found to be innocent. He was acquitted. This means the case was not proved beyond a reasonable doubt. As hard as it is to swallow that was the correct verdict. Cops can't behave like Ferman did and the prosecution was a joke. No matter what your gut tells you you have to put that aside and look at the facts and how they were presented and if you do that OJ walks. They have rules and procedures to follow like every body else and if they can bend them and screw up like they did with OJ and still get a conviction we all lose. I would like to think that if I was ever accused of a crime they would need to have their $hit together to convict me. I wouldn't be too comfortable living in a country were they can convict with illegally obtained evidence and the word of a POS racist pig cop like Ferman. I live in a country that has a horrendous record of wrongfully convicting people. There have been many major wrongful convictions that have come to light the last few years here. They are unacceptable and they happen because of POS cops like Ferman thinking they can do what ever they want and lax standards. As hard as it is to see scum like OJ walk is was the right thing. Convicting him on the evidence they had and how it was obtained and the word of Ferman might not bother you because it was OJ they were convicting but just imagine if it was you they convicted of some crime you didn't commit. Look at the bigger picture.

Good thing we have DNA now adays. Most of the wrongful convictions that we see in the news are either from pre DNA or during the beginning when it was still an introductory science. And you are probably right. Better to let a murderer go free and not bend the rules. Because following the rules set by the government is more important then putting a murderer behind bars. And if you follow the rules, rather then do what is morally right, you always end up better off. Ask OJ.

I am sort of conflicted about DNA evidence. Sure it has helped over turn many wrongful convictions but that would not have been necessary if the crooked cops, prosecutor,lying witnesses, and in several cases here a total idiot of a medical examiner were not making a mockery of the legal system. DNA evidence is able to prove that the person was innocent but it should never have been necessary in many of the cases we see know.

For all the people DNA evidence has helped there is a lot that is has hurt. It is very easy to plant DNA. Hair, saliva, skin, what ever.

As for the bending of rules comment. My point simply is this. Even if an obviously guilty person walks the integrity of the legal system is much more important. Rules for search and seasure, chain of evidence, burden of proof and all that legalize are there to protect you and me. It's not good when you can convict people on flimsy or illegal evidence. Sometimes because of these tough standards people like OJ slip through and thats tough to swallow but it's better than the alternative. With very few exceptions there is no worse crime than the wrongful conviction of an innocent person.

Well I agree about your DNA thoughts for the most part, but I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. DNA is an excellent tool to help put the pieces of the puzzle together. I don't think it should ever be the only evidence, but it certainly could be a contributing factor as it has sound science behind it. I guess the only alternative would be to have a Big Brother society with cameras and microphones everywhere, recording everything at all times. Then there would be no problems with the facts. But then nobody wants that.

I totally agree with your last statement. But just a part of me wishes that the guilty would still get punished, even if the collection of evidence was made in error be it on purpose or by accident. Maybe the guilty could get punished, as could those that broke the rules to gain the evidence? That way all the guilty get the justice they deserve!

It's just human nature to want to see justice served. But then, it's not a justice system we are following, it is a legal one. There is a very distinct difference. I can't tell you how many officers out there are frustrated to do a good, honest arrest, with lots of legwork done, follow all the rules, and see a simple slap on the wrist given out for fairly big crimes, or see it dismissed altogether. Happens all the time.

Have to say though, it's nice to see OJ where he belongs.

Going to be interesting to see what kind of sentence he gets. I have no doubt his not guilty verdict on his murder charges made him feel untouchable. Why else would he pull the stunt he was just convicted of after coming so close to getting convicted on murder?

It seem like the everybody involved in his prosecution this time were not taking any chances. They went by the book from what I have read (admittedly not a whole lot since I just don't care about this clown) and thats one positive to come out of this guys sad existence.
