(Version 3.0.8) Why is it when I delete my Firefox private data- all of it- and restarting a list of previously used sites still show up in the drop down address bar?

One of the many reasons why you should download CCleaner.

Do you have sites that already bookmarked ? That's the point !

still appears ? You can try install Hide Unvisited add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/id/firefox/addon/7429

or you can check this link http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Cannot...ion+bar+history wink.gif

You mean those sites are just sites I have bookmarked? In that case it is fine, I thought it was browsing history left over.

The items in the dropdown menu with a star beside them are your bookmarks. All other addresses that drop down are your Browsing History.

You can always disable that menu if it isn't needed. Personally, I found it a pain in the backside.

Enter "about:config" (without quotes) into the address bar, click past the warning and scroll down to "browser.urlbar.maxRichResults". Double click that entry and change the default 12 to 0, then restart Firefox.
