Hello J_B, welcome to the forum smile.gif

Could you say which operating system you use, and which version of ccleaner.

Is this a new thing that has just started happening or are you a new user of ccleaner?

For anyone trying to help, apparently this HAS been done, but does not seem to work:

In CCleaner, in the left margin, you see WINDOWS and APPLICATIONS.
Left-click on WINDOWS.
> WINDOWS EXPLORER > Recent Documents
Uncheck the box.

I'm scratching my head over this one. I wonder if you have TuneUp Utilities doing the same thing. There are various apps that do it. Why not disable CCleaner temporarily, and see if the problem still exists?

Windows can also have a registry key changed to turn off the creation of My Recent Documents links in that special Start menu folder.

xp-AntiSpy can either enable or disable it via a registry setting. It's located here in xp-AntiSpy:
Miscellaneous Settings -> Clean history of recently used documents
which in your case you'd want it to be unticked.
