ok kind of a novice question but if i made copies before deleting would i have to delete the copies after if the deleting was all fine or would the copies automatically delete themselves if the deleting went fine of the originals
How Ccleaner works to "edit" the registry: It identifies a registry entry as an "Issue" or a "Problem" then if you tell it to it deletes it from the registry. Before it deletes it it will ask if you want to back up the registry. That really means just the part you are about to delete. Do make the back up.
If you make a registry backup using ccleaner, it will have the file extension .reg. You just double click it and it will put itself back into the registry. The original backup file, with the .reg extension, will remain wherever it was when you clicked it, even after it is merged into the registry.
There are pretty good instructions for ERUNT at the link.
Editing the registry doesn't usually make the computer faster. Maybe a little. I have done it several different ways, and cannot tell much difference.
edit: Well, razz beat me to it.
