Hi all
I'm a total newbie here and very very useless when it comes to techo computer knowledge. I'm not even sure if i'm at the right place but i thought someone may be able to help.
I have a NEC versa 2000E laptop and was getting a message awhile ago about needing to increase virtual memory etc. I realised after talking to someone what this actually meant so i went and bought and increased my RAM to the maximum for this computer. It did help to run alot quicker but now after a month or so it is running slower again.
The problem is that it seems to lag and is especially bad when trying to view a video or youtube etc. The sound keeps moving at normal speed but the picture freezes while it seems the computer is thinking and then quickly catches up to where it needs to be.
My problem is that i don't know if it is something that has got into my system that is affecting it, or is it that the computer is getting old, or if there is an easy fix.
Here are some of the system details
Windows 2000 XP pro service pack 3
intel pentium 1.7GHz with 1.24 Gb Ram
C Drive is 55 gig with 35.5 of free space
I also run ccleaner and Advanced system care and use avg free antivirus.
Also when i do ctl alt dlt to see my physcial memory then it usually says
total 1300912 with available usually between 220000 and 450000. Not sure what this means or if it makes sense to anyone but i remember someone telling me that it has something to do with how efficient the computer is running or something.
As is said i'm a dunce when it comes to alot fo this stuff but i'd really appreciate some help.
Sorry in advance if i've posted on the wrong site, forum etc.
Kind Regards
