is it possible to export and import programs? like download a program on a friends computer and then save it to a memory stick and import it to your computer when you get the time?

Only if it's a truly portable program that doesn't place any files outside of its working directory, and if it doesn't permanently store settings in the Windows registry. Most programs use the Windows registry though.

Many apps are now getting onto the portable bandwagon so search the program website for a portable version.

thanks, i copied it to the memory card and then removed the program from the computer and then clicked on the program to open from the memory card and it opened up, does this mean it can be transferred to another computer?

I think I misunderstood your original question after re-reading it. Are you talking about just downloading any programs setup file like Firefox for instance onto a friends computer, copying/moving it to a USB Thumb Drive, then installing it on your computer. That's perfectly fine, I do it all the time to keep my mothers laptop updated.
