This is a pretty old app, but Javacool's site suggests that it is still worth using. I'm just looking for some input as to who still uses it and is it really worth it. Always looking for another layer of protection! smile.gif

Absolutely. SB should be a part of everyone's security solution. That's an entirely different product though. wink.gif

SpywareGuard definitely should be used and is still of use. It is like Spybot's TeaTimer.

A very effective program it is

Even if the only browser I use is Opera? It appears that SG's primary method of protection is preventing browser hi-jacks, but has Opera ever actually been hi-jacked? It seems as if SG is only really useful if you use Internet Explorer.

It seems as if SG is only really useful if you use Internet Explorer.

If some infestation like Ask.com Toolbar or another toolbar, etc., is mistakenly installed it will block the IE homepage hijack changes, but moreover give you a heads up that something is going on which is too easy with setup files nowadays bundling in unneeded third-party junk. It won't do a thing to protect other browsers but those aren't such an issue to fix. IE definitely needs protection.

I have used it since I can remember. Two or three times it has caught things that got past everything else. Also, it has updated once or twice in the last decade. tongue.gif

SpywareGuard's protection has nothing to do with what browser you use
