Full Version: Dell laptop - upgrade vista to windows 7

I just got the Windows 7 upgrade package for my laptop, which currently has Vista. The package consists of the Upgrade Assisant DVD (which has the drivers and applications) and the Vista to Windows 7 upgrade dvd. The directions from Dell are to start with the Upgrade Assistant, and then use the upgrade dvd.

Would it be better to use the upgrade dvd and do a clean install rather than an upgrade? Is that possible with the Dell media?

If I understand what you are wanting to do, Microsoft has said that you should not use an upgrade disc to do a clean (custom) install

Clean installs are always best. You get the best results since your not left with stuff from the old OS to conflict with the new one. You can do a clean install with the upgrade, here is how:

Good link rridgely! ... Bookmarked for future reference.

I'd be interested in hearing how people get on with this method cool.gif
