Hi All..

Strange problem (not sure how it happened.. maybe some virus / spyware tried to install but i closed it in time or whatever)

But .. here is what's happening to the comp now:

Only at reboot.. or restart .. - when Windows "coming up" ( using Win ME by the way) - The box pops up , by the name of "Browse for Folder" , and then says "Select the Installation directory" .. 2 option on the bottom "OK" and Cancel" ...

If i click Cancel - It goes away.. but windows Active desktop is in that "screwed up mode" .. have to press there "Restore Active Desktop" button to restore the desktop..
After this the computer is working no problem .. until next restart, etc...
Scanning it for spyware.. viruses - didn't find anything special (havent' tried full scan for viruses yet though wth the AntiVir one i am using.. but i suspect it's not the prob)

I suspect the problem is somewhere in the start-up instruction file somewhere (some batch file?) . or something like that.. i am not an expert..
I suspect something is giving insruction to the computer to do this every time.. lol - only logical smile.gif

....
By the way.. as mentioned above.. 2 option at this box - Cancel an OK...
Didn't mention yet - if press OK at this "Browse for Folder" thingy, at the "Select the Installation directory" thingy.. (any directory .. doesn't matter.. - i think it defaults to My Documents, by default..) .. So if Press OK:

this pop up box comes up.. with kinda the same msg everytime:

"The insruction at "0x70d35b16" referenced memory at "0x11fc0300". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program"
(it says exactly that)

and OK button there.. - when click OK - the Box goes away (kinda small, kinda long.. skinny rectangular box.. - usually when something is wrong... windows might give something like that)

In any case.. after it goes away.. the same happenings as described above or:
windows Active desktop is in that "screwed up mode" .. have to press there "Restore Active Desktop" button to restore the desktop..
After this the computer is working no problem .. until next restart, etc...

That's all...

Someone can help me somehow to get rid of this BS.. .. Please! . if any possible...

(probably have take something off something.. lol - or something like that.. i am lamer when it comes to something like that) smile.gif

Thanks for listening....

You'd need to post a HijackThis log, it's the only way to find out if it's malware related. Post the log in the forums located here.
