Microsoft is better. Is you can afford it why not. However given that it's quite costly I wouldn't say it's worth the money.
I have used OpenOffice and it does have some useful features.
Anwar
But still does openoffice support all microsoft office extensions?
mps69_1999
It sure does. You can also set OpenOffice to save your documents as MS office. That includes Word, Xcel and PowerPoint.
I've only started using Oo and it's really good, if your stuck with anything they have a good support forum too.

I would definitly choose OpenOffice. No doubt about it.

Same here!

If I had known about OpenOffice when purchasing my system back in December 2003 I could have saved $300 plus dollars USD, and could have instead either kept that money or used that money for slightly better hardware, a bigger monitor, or an even larger secondary hard disk.

Use Oo its a great program it interchanges Doc's with MS 2003 Pro. I have MS on one computer and Oo on another and have no problems Plus you can make PDF files in Oo.

The next version of office will suposedly support open document format. If that happens then thier will be no reason at all for home users to buy office.

I use OpenOffice 2.0, it already do support the OpenDocument format.

No MS Office will support open document format. Which means their will be no difference in the formats between the programs.

Somebody in this topic already answered your question. Read all the responses before you ask the same question twice.
