As Microsoft recently released a feature complete version of Windows vista, i was just wondering if you lot plan to upgrade as soon as it comes out, not at all etc.

Microsofts Vista page

On another note im note sure about the look of it tho i few weeks a go a came across a windows xp theme and i thought that is ugly as hell, it was only a few days later i realized it was a direct copy of the one standard vista theme blink.gif .

No, I dont plan to upgrade right away. I will wait and see how vista is first. If it bombs then I'm keeping xp and on the next pc I build I will use linux or buy a mac.

I definitely won't be using Vista, as XP is the last MS OS I'll ever use, eight years of using MS OSes is enough for a lifetime of the dreaded never ending security patches to place a Band-Aid over holes in Windows. Of course I'll have to grow rather tired of XP first before I switch to something different altogether. My thoughts are either Linux, Mac, or something off the wall that isn't even computer/PC based in the usual sense.

Nope I'll be staying wit XP for the time being, although I do like some of the looks that seem to be coming out. Until such times as it stable and not built like Swiss cheese XP will do me.
Infact I'm also looking at other OS. It's just having the guts to do change.

I more then likely will switch, i have been playing around with Ubuntu for some time now on VMware Player. One simple fact remands tho, why it does allot of stuff brilliantly, games that i and most people like using do not come out for other operating systems and i LOVE games cool.gif .

I've read about this in Maximum PC. It is supposed to work fairly well, so you may want to check it out, englishmen.

I will not be upgrading to Vista. Not only does it continue to follow Microsoft's trend of hogging resources, but it also has integrated DRM, as well as other features which worry me, such as a built-in MS P2P network which is running by default. Do I really want MS consuming my bandwidth, and sending info about me to their servers whenever I'm connected (which is always)?

I for sure wont upgrade to Windows Vista.
On the current computer I will continue to run Windows XP.
On my next computer, I will run GNU/Linux, probably Slackware.
