It seems that the Dilbert cartoon site (or one of its advertisers) is dishing up a little more than jokes.

There's a thread that discusses this here (pcreview.co.uk). Apparently it's utilizing an ActiveX control that can bypass IE safeguards. Luckily you didn't get winfixer, I hear it's a nightmare!

Why would Dilbert do this?!?
chiawaikian
You get Errorsafe I heard. sad.gif

Symantec info about ErrorSafe

A rogue anti-spyware program in short. Just like WinFixer.

Mail the author of the website and express your disgust.
Also, stop goto that site, boycott it!

Looks like Winfixer and ErrorSafe may be the same-

"WinFixer is another dubious program of the same nature and tribe of ErrorSafe. It has a very similar website, only difference being, it’s in complete red where ErrorSafe is all blue! MicroWorld experts are currently studying the components of ErrorSafe and its ramifications."

castlecops.com

Looks like both are pretty ingenious, worthless, and aggravating.

Besides mailing the webmaster, what we can do is to pass this information around, maybe to PC magazines and express our disgust.

Also send the info to law enforcement FBI, InterPol, etc., so that people whom author malicious software can get what's coming to them; fines or prison.

Most definitely! So far I have only sent in 2 complaints, and the links are also in my email address book for easy forwarding to the appropriate officials.

I have a friend in the FBI, so all I have to do is call her.

From now on complaints are to be sent to Andavari, for direct transfer of objectionable material to the FBI.

hehe...Won't that be fun Andavari?? Have your eyes popped out yet? blink.gif

I'm not scared, because I'll just have my dog answer the phone. My dog actually does answer the phone sometimes, she hates the ringing and will knock it off it's cradle and she'll bark into it loudly.

How do you know the call isn't for her?

Never though of that. Imagine picking up the phone and telling your dog "it's for you."
