Hi par0x

I can see Adware in your log but there also appears to be a Worm or Trojan running which Id like to get more information on before removing.

Goto The Add/Remove screen (Start Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs) and remove any of these that are in the list:

IM Names
Media Pass
Media Access
Media Gateway

As you currently have Hijack This running from the Temp folder also remove HijackThis from the Add/Remove screen. HijackThis creates backups when items are fixed and you will lose the backups if its left in the temp folders

Once Hijack This is removed please download it again from Here. Do not run it from the download link but first save it to your desktop or C:\drive which will put it into a permanent folder.

Once you have removed the Above entries, Reboot the PC.

Run Hijack This and choose Do A System Scan then place a check next to these entries

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Spooler] C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IMprocess] C:\Program Files\IM Names\IM-svr.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Access] C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe
O16 - DPF: {C3D96A02-EEA7-4264-98D7-D882A7338DE5} - ht*p://imgfarm.com/images/nocache/communit...tup1.0.0.12.cab

Close all open browser and other windows except for Hijack This and press the Fix Checked button

Then Delete these folders

C:\Program Files\IM Names
C:\Program Files\Media Access

Please then visit VirusTotal, When the site opens click Browse, locate this file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv32.exe

Open C:\Drive then the Windows folder and finally the System32 folder and locate the spoolsv32.exe file, double click the file to load the path into the Virus scan window then press Send.

Please copy and paste the scan results back in your next reply and let us know if you have any problems finding the file.

Next download Ewido Anti-Malware from HERE
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard"
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"),
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click Complete System Scan.
If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select Remove and check the boxes Perform action with all infections and Create encrypted backup before clicking on OK.
When the scan finishes, click on Save Report. This will create a text file that you can save to the desktop and post back

Finally run Panda Activescan from Here.

Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan
(Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When the download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location so you can post it back.

Please post back the Ewido log, Pandascan log, VirusTotal results and a new Hijack This log

Thanks

Andy

I did a clean up on the pc may have removed them myself.

Problems with this pc are also that it runs slow within the background as my mum has 2/3 dvd burning tools.

Hi Par0x

Hijack This still needs moving smile.gif I know its on the desktop but it needs to be inside a folder so that the backups are kept with the program, Right click the desktop and choose New then Folder, name it HijackThis and then left click the HijackThis.exe file and drag it over the new folder, release the mouse button and it will go into the folder, do the same for the Backups folder if that exists on your desktop.

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders then make sure that spoolsv32.exe file doesnt exist (spoolsv.exe is the genuine Microsoft file, spoolsv32.exe is a Worm or Trojan file) :

Click Start. Goto MyComputer then C:\drive
Select the Tools menu from the top bar and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
UnCheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.

Click Yes to confirm then OK

Set this back once you have checked for the file by opening the same page and pressing the Restore Defaults button the click Apply and OK.

If you find the file then please upload it so we can be sure what it is, if its not found then use the Restore Defaults on the Folder Options screen.

Can you then run Ewido and Pandascan and post back the logs as it will make it easier to see if there is remaining problems.

Thanks

Andy
