A video from CNBC shows an AOL customer trying to cancel his account, but a phone rep won't let him do it.
What customer Vincent Ferrari got when he tried to cancel his account was a lot of frustration.
It took him 15 minutes waiting on the phone just to reach a real, live person.
And, what happened next was recorded by Ferrari on audio and lasted about four minutes:

When I cancelled my AOL account back in 2000 the customer service rep kept asking me if I was sure, etc., until I got pissed off and ultra serious with him.

lmao, yep. It took me 30 minutes to cancel AOL, and I had to get really mean. He just refused no matter what, then they still won't close my email account. GRRRRRRRRRRR
I HATE AOL!!

AOL charges way... too much for a Dail-Up or DSL service. My grandpa still uses AOL. I hate it also. Their support service sucks and always will.

The cool thing is you can call the credit card company to block AOL from getting paid via the used credit card. The same can be done via a bank when using a Check Card. When I cancelled AOL I put a block on them for more than one reason because when I was a member crap would mysteriously appear in the mail (snail mail) from AOL such as books on how to do HTML, etc., that I never even ordered, but they sure as hell billed me for it. AOL sucks!

it's a reps job to try and retain customers, that is expected. when they get pushy then that is going to far.
