Since so many were complaining about Ccleaner not being able to run on logoff, ive made some shortcuts/batches.
Only I have tested this out and Im pretty sure everything is working now.
It'd be nice if some other people running XP could try this.
Its VERY lightweight!

Disclaimer: Only I have tested this, Im not responsible if something minor or serious goes wrong with your PC.
Use this AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Sorry but this is not a good idea. Running ccleaner automatically at shut down could potentially cause a lot of problems.

Lets say you install a program that asks for a reboot to finish installing. Chances are it put files in the temp folder required to finish the install. Well if you run ccleaner and clean them up then you will corrupt the installation of whatever program. Running ccleaner automatically before shutting down is a bad idea.

but you can still restart with the windows shortcut if needed.
rridgely
what exactly does what you made do? Is it just a batch file that runs ccleaner and reboots/shutsdown your computer or is it a file that sets ccleaner to run every time you shut down?(I didn't even download it.)
TheFiresInTheSky
its shortcuts that it adds to the start menu and it runs ccleaner, then restarts, logs off, or shuts down.
theres an optional file to hide or unhide the original windows shortcuts.

Not really. Although I don't understand the need to hide the Windows shortcuts or whatever Aaron is talking about.

I also don't recommend this for the very same reasons rridgely already stated as far too often there's critical Windows updates that require a reboot and if it's done automatically who's really going to remember to disable it. And if it were a viable automatted option MrG would have probably already added something like that into CCleaner, but it doesn't exist and there's only an option to have auto cleaning done on startup.

If people really want a possible shoot yourself in both feet option they could just create their own desktop link for running CCleaner with the /AUTO parameter before they shutdown.

Well don't be discouraged, and if people come to the forums asking for cleanup at shutdown just give them the info why it's a bad ideal.

Only recently within the last month did I stop cleaning the system before shutdown because I had noticed an app was royally messed up that required a reboot without any notification. I suspect it's also the reason a few months ago that my secondary antivirus scanner AVG Free was messed up after an update that didn't request a reboot.

A lot of people may have not realised about apps needing a reboot after updating etc, a good thing to have reminded us all about, rridgley and Andavari.

Aaron, well done, a good try, you haven't been shot down in flames, we have all learnt from it.
