I saw it recommended on some sites and it seemed pretty good. I had it installed before I did my almost annual OS reinstall.

During a search to see where the program is recommended, I found it here (but I can't determine if they're saying it's good or something to watch out for!).

Personally, I thought it was an excellent little program, but as I said in a previous post, the SiteAdvisor rating s/b checked. Here's the registry strings the program adds.

Since someone posted another thread in relation to a diferent cleaner, I thought it would be a good time to try and get some opinions on Clean Cache.
I've used it and it's pretty good.

I looked at the program. Looks pretty ugly(I guess butt ugly is a better term?), plus it doesn't seem to clean as much stuff as CCleaner.

I used CleanCache before CCleaner.

The only thing that I think it does better is keeping cookies. It can handle cookies that toggle between version numbers, e.g., [1] to [2], when you change webpage settings, and you can elect to protect all cookies related to Favorites.

It cleans only a very limited number of programs. In order to clean more, you have to develop "Additives" (equivalent to CCleaner's Custom Files and winapp2.ini entries) but, because its ability to clean registry entries is very limited, there are some programs for which an Additive simply can't be developed.

I think it's been abandoned. The last update was August 2006 and even before that, there were long periods of inactivity.

Actually Siteadvisor says it's a clean download. The only reason it has their X rating is because it links to softlists.com.
Unfortunately, Siteadvisor gives several good sites an X or an exclamation point because of a site they link to, although all the programs on the site in question are clean and useful.

As far as the registry strings that Cleancache adds, take a look at Crap Cleaner:

I think the reason I liked Cleancache was because of the easy to read tabbed menu:



It has very adjustable cleaning options as you can see, and did a nice job of getting rid of user assist registry strings.

I'm not saying it's better than Crap Cleaner, but it's a worthy program to have installed as an additional cleaner. For that matter, so is ATF-Cleaner.

Just took a look at the exit-sequence of the Wilders-poster - quite impressive. That exit-sequence will probably quite a bit longer than the time he's actually using the computer.

In addition he does a 7 wipe max with Crap Cleaner.

That sequence probably guarantees a clean computer (as long as he's checking Process Explorer and running Hijackthis on a regular basis).

I wonder if running Eraser and Sysinternals Page Defrag at startup might be a good idea.
